Pit Wall App · Legal
Privacy policy
Last updated: 29 July 2026
Pit Wall is a small app run by Stewart Motorsports that follows our race cars, the #14 and the #29, with live timing and optional race-day alerts. It's available as an iPhone app, an Android app, and a website. This page explains what we collect if you turn on notifications, what we do with it, and how to remove it. The short version: almost nothing, and never for advertising.
What we collect
We only collect anything if you choose to turn notifications on. When you turn on notifications in the app and allow them, we store on our server:
- A device notification token: a string your phone's operating system issues (through Apple on iOS, Google on Android) that lets us deliver a push notification to that one device. It isn't your phone number, your Apple or Google account, or anything that identifies you personally.
- Your notification preferences: which kinds of alerts you've switched on (position changes, pit and track state, session timers, flags, driver changes, event reminders, and general updates).
- A device label: the basic device and app description your device sends with the request, used only so we can tell devices apart in our own admin list.
- Your IP address, briefly: checked against a short-lived hourly counter so nobody can spam our sign-up endpoint. It isn't tied to your notification token and is deleted automatically after a few hours.
That's the entire list.
What we don't collect
We do not collect your name, email address, precise location, contacts, photos, browsing history, third-party analytics identifiers, or advertising IDs. There are no user accounts and no sign-up. We don't track you across other apps or websites, and the app contains no ads and no analytics or advertising SDKs.
How we use it
Only to send you the notifications you asked for. The token delivers the alert to your device, your preferences decide which alerts you get, and that's it. We don't profile you, build an audience, or use any of it for marketing.
Who we share it with
No one. We don't sell, rent, or trade your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party. To actually deliver a notification we hand your device token to Apple's Push Notification service (iOS) or Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android), the operating-system services that carry the message to your phone. They act only as the delivery pipe on our behalf; we don't share your data with anyone for their own purposes.
Where it lives
Everything is stored on a single private server we operate, in a local database, served over an encrypted HTTPS connection. Your data isn't copied out to other providers.
How long we keep it, and how to delete it
Your notification token stays until one of these happens:
- You turn notifications off in the app. Open Settings in the app and turn notifications off (or unsubscribe). Your token and preferences are deleted from our server right away.
- Your token stops working, for example if you uninstall the app. The delivery service tells us, and we remove it automatically.
You can also email info@joshlambeth.com to ask us to delete your data. IP rate-limit counters clear themselves within a few hours. Our record of the alerts we've sent is kept, but it contains only the message text, nothing about you.
Using the app without notifications
If you never turn notifications on, we don't store anything that identifies your device. Browsing the live timing, results, and schedule needs no account and sets no tracking or advertising cookies. (The website uses a single sign-in cookie only if you log into the private admin panel, which isn't part of the public app.)
Children
Pit Wall isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top.
